Vitamin Competence: Be an Outlier

There is no way we can pursue perfection everyday for the rest of our lives--- especially when our efforts are relatively abstract and subjective. Meaning, how can we really measure how much effort are we really putting in? Well, there is some good news. There is another law that we can adhere to and this has been scientifically proven to bring out the best in us. It's the Law of the Outliers which was made famous by the best-selling author, Malcom Gladwell in his book Outliers. It states that one needs to invest a total of 10,000 hours consistently in order to be one of the best in our chosen fields.
So let's do the math:
If we work at an average rate of 40 hours a week.
And there are roughly 52 weeks a year.
Then you have an opportunity to perfect your craft with more than 2,000 hours every year.
So for you to become one of the best in your chosen field, you have to work at it for about five years.
And if you want to make your competence grow faster, then just add in some hours during the day or the week.
Talent is Never Enough
So if you’re a Student, you have to spend days focused on honing your craft. Studying and learning beyond what the school is teaching you.
Sharing and collaborating with your classmates and friends to come up with cool ideas that can change the world.
Not just be limited to getting the most likes from our post or the most scores from our games.
But really make a positive impact with our thoughts, words and actions.

Be an outlier by being the best student of learning. May it be about your passion or potential.
